Because of April & Nicole's wild personalities and bold style we chose to hit up Sugar Beach for a super colourful earring adventure. Yara and I were mind blown by the large selection of handcrafted and unique pieces that they have (We didn't know what to choose).

We sat with the sisters to get insider information on their creative process and how it all really started... 

- Nicole in Hughsie Earrings -

1. Tell us about yourself, your passions, hobbies?

Anyone who knows us knows that we choose to do as many things as possible together. We have lived and travelled abroad, we share clothes, makeup and even the same food allergies. Our current passions include earrings of course, also fashion and makeup.We both love yoga and staying active, cooking and building an empire!

2. What inspired you to start your business?

 A true love of self-expression. Hughsie allows us both to have the exact pieces we desire. We were always obsessed with accessories and looking for something unique and bold. Having the ability to make earrings obsessed with accessories and looking for something unique and bold. Having the ability to make earrings that speak not only to us but allow others to feel beautiful is the true baseline for why we started.

3. What is unique about your products/business?

 Our products are truly unique for several reasons. First, we hand make everything from scratch - that includes the design and crafting, assembling and styling. Secondly, the medium we use is polymer chains or resin. We do everything custom; any client can be their own designer!

4. What challenges did you face starting out?

Our Challenges started from day one. We had minimal resources and zero experience in the jewellery field. Learning every aspect of the design and opening an online store from scratch. We are constantly learning from out mistakes and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone.

6. Your 'AHA' Moment?

We had our 'aha' moment when we discovered people connected to us and our brand as sisters rather than our own as individuals.

5. Do you have a support system?

Yes! We definitely had a lot of support along the way, family & friends, our significant others, and even co-workers whom have shown a lot of support and interest in our brand.

7. Your favourite product?

Nicole - "Buddha" dangle- the colour and textured design represents spiritually which is huge part of my life.

April - My favourite is the "Famous" dangle. A Large statement piece that really pops on any outfit. It can be worn from day to night and the simple black and gold speckle gives the extra glam.

8. People's favourite product?

We noticed quickly that other gravitated towards out Mini Sets. We offer a pack of 3 Mini studs which gives variety and also value! Although we pre-select a variety of colour combinations we notice that customers often want to choose their own, which we love!

9. Something crazy about you?

We have matching tattoos and surgery scars.

10. Your future plans?

Our future plans are to expand our brand, not only adding more to our collections but also branching out into apparel, reaching a larger market.
